COLLABORATIVE STORYTELLING
Thanks to this module I have discovered lots of possibilities to make the writing process more motivating and engaging for students. When they have to write a short story or essay, they are usually not very excited about it, so digital storytelling and collaborative work is part of the solution :)
I have been reading different sites and blogs about collaborative storytelling and I found many interesting ideas! So I am eager to put them into practice. I have sometimes worked on collaborative storytelling in class but in the traditional way: chain story, picture story, folding story, etc. So now I see that all these ideas can be transformed into digital stories.
I prepared an activity to do in class with my 1st Bachillerato students. However, I didn't have time to organise the activity as I had in mind. So their final task will be to create a Google Presentation with their story or record the story with audio using Fotobabble or Voicethread.
I share with you this infographics with the lesson planning and rubric:
As I had to improvise this lesson, I wasn't able to use the mini-laptops in class. So, I asked them to do the same but on a piece of paper. At home they have to open a Google Presentation and write the story adding pictures or use Fotobabble or Voicethread to tell the story with audio (this way they practise pronunciation and intonation). The idea is to have another session where they present each story and they vote them in Kahoot.
My students were really motivated with the activity and they had lots of fun because they were interested in how their original stories would end. They also were aware of other students grammar mistakes or lack of coherence and they corrected them, so this is a good way for self-correction. They told me they liked to practise writing this way and to repeat another time. Here there are two pictures of the session:
Here you have the TWO TOOLS to be used for this lesson plan:
1) GOOGLE PRESENTATION
2) VOICETHREAD

Hi, I like your voicethread. Brilliant!
