MODULE 5

FINAL TASK
1) PLANNING
The final task has been designed to be developed in 3 sessions (each one 55 minutes). It is aimed at a group of 14 students that have been grouped into 4 groups of 3-4 students each. As we have experienced some inconveniences during the lesson, the last session can't be implemented before the end of this DST course. So, next class we have to read all the stories in class, get feedback, revise the use of English and assess the task using the Kahoot (below, you can find the link for the Kahoot survey)

2) DESIGN
To present the activity I have created this Prezi presentation where students have the steps to be folllowed to complete the task. I also show them an example of a collaborative story using Voicethread.

COLLABORATIVE STORYTELLING - LESSON PLAN

3) IMPLEMENTATION
Students showed interest in the task as it was a different way to practise writing in class. They work better when they are in groups. However, I have noticed  that some students worked harder than others. So, maybe it's better to assign them different roles for the task so that everyone collaborates. They liked the idea that each group had to invent a story from the same initial 5 pictures,  and using an online app and not paper has motivated them :)

The most difficult part for them was to use English properly to write their stories, we didn't have much time in class, so the task they have submitted is not the final version, as we will need one more session to check and correct mistakes all together.
They learnt very fast how to use Voicethread, they are a technologically advanced generation and they have no problems in learning new apps. However, we had a problem with our school server or computers as they couldn't record their voices in Voicethread, so they had to type the story. It is a pity because they really liked the idea of recording their voices.

All in all, I think I could guide them more during the task but I am quite happy with the result. Maybe next time I let them choose their own pictures.
It has been a good practice to enhance their creativity and confidence, as they usually don't like writing essays. Next class, I will get their feedback to see how to improve the lesson plan. But I think they enjoyed it.

4) ASSESSMENT

Next class we will do the survey I have prepared in Kahoot to know their general opinion about the different stories. This will be taken into account for  the final mark.
